Terms of Use and Licence Agreement
Last updated: 2 November 2026
These terms apply to the AEGIS Lite Chrome extension (free and Pro) and this website. AEGIS Lite is made by Jeremiah Gad, a sole trader (ABN [ABN]) in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (“I”, “me”, “we”). By installing or using AEGIS Lite you agree to these terms.
1. Your licence
- I give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use AEGIS Lite.
- One licence per person. A Pro licence key is for you alone. You may use it on your own browsers up to the activation limit shown at purchase.
- No resale. You may not sell, rent, share, publish or give away licence keys, or sell access to Pro features.
- You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute AEGIS Lite except as the law allows, and you may not remove or get around the licence check.
2. Buying Pro
Pro is a one-time purchase in Australian dollars, including GST. Orders are processed by Lemon Squeezy as reseller and merchant of record, under its own terms. Pro checks your licence about once a week; if it can’t connect, Pro keeps working for 14 days. If a licence is refunded, charged back or found to be shared in breach of these terms, I may disable it.
3. What AEGIS Lite does, and doesn’t do
AEGIS Lite tells you whether a password appears in the Have I Been Pwned Pwned Passwords data set and estimates its strength. A “Not found” result means only that the password isn’t in that data set; it doesn’t mean the password is safe or secret. Strength scores are estimates.
No guarantee against hacking. AEGIS Lite helps you make better password choices. It can’t stop your accounts from being hacked, phished or breached, and it isn’t a replacement for unique passwords, a password manager, two-factor authentication and up-to-date software.
AEGIS Lite relies on third-party services (Have I Been Pwned, Lemon Squeezy, Google Chrome). I don’t control them and can’t promise they will always be available.
4. Your responsibilities
- Use AEGIS Lite lawfully and only to check your own passwords or passwords you are authorised to check.
- Keep your password export files safe and delete them after a bulk check.
- Don’t try to misuse, overload or attack the services AEGIS Lite connects to.
5. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other law that can’t be excluded. If AEGIS Lite has a major failure, you are entitled to a refund. See the Refund Policy.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, and except for your rights under the Australian Consumer Law:
- AEGIS Lite is provided “as is”, and I give no other warranties;
- I am not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, accounts, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of AEGIS Lite; and
- my total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for AEGIS Lite Pro.
Where the law lets me limit my liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee for goods or services not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use, my liability is limited, at my choice, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
7. Updates and ending
I may update AEGIS Lite to fix bugs, improve security or keep up with Chrome. You can stop using AEGIS Lite at any time by uninstalling it. I may end your licence if you seriously breach these terms; this doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
8. Privacy
See the Privacy Policy. In short: your passwords never leave your computer.
9. Changes to these terms
I may change these terms. The date above shows the latest version. Changes won’t take away rights you already have for a purchase you’ve made.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and I submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the courts that can hear appeals from them.
